Hello there, I want to be able to take close up shots every now and then. Nothing microscopic just of insects and flowers with decent detail. From some google fu I have found a lens you screw onto your existing lens. Is this something which could acheive what I want? Its a canon close up lens called 500D? What size would I need as it seems to come in a lot (52mm,58mm,77mm)

I have a 7D with a Tamron SP 17-50mm F/2.8 lens. Could I screw on the lens to the Tamron lens I have?

Extension tubes will get you close by allowing your lens to focus at shorter distances and they're pretty cheap.

Can either get very cheap ones where you have to manual focus or better ones will allow you to maintain autofocus :)
