Closed back headphones/set for ~£100 - significant upgrade from HyperX Cloud?

Hi all

I am after some headphones or headset to replace my hyperx clouds. The only reason to replace them is they are a little tired, but if I can't get a decent upgrade for £100 I'll keep them.

Must be closed back as I have a fair amount of background noise, plus would like to take them with me when I travel etc.
Also must have space for a mic, I might make a mount to put my existing hyperx cloud mic in (3D print) or simply buy a modmic. Happy to consider gaming headsets as well if the mic can be removed.

Forgot to mention I have a Soundblaster XG6 but will use them with my laptop ocassionally as well

I have 250 ohm DT990, which should use exactly same drivers.
But laptop might need about full volume setting, if it's sound card is worser than Realtek.

One other thing is that different DT770 version have different cables:
250 ohm version has coiled cable, while 80 ohm version has straight cable.

Though with SBX G6 that coiled cable would be basically better, because of not trying to fall onto floor so easily as that 3m long straight cable.

Okay, to be honest I would prefer a 3m straight cable so I'll lookfor the 80ohm version. It seems to be more expensive though :(

OK, I have my HyperX Cloud mic to use so I'll try to rig that up

Well.. this has fallen flat on it's face from HyperX cloud mic. It seems that I can't use the mic with a regular 3.5mm cable, I have to pull it out a couple of mm for it to work.
They must have gone out of their way to wire it in a proprietary manner!

No I didn't unfortunately. Basically they designed the mic in such a way that it simply doesn't work when fully fitted into a 3.5mm port, you have to pull it out slightly and then it works
So they have offset the contacts /poles on the mic

Ended up buying a used modmic in the end (more than I wanted to spend but never mind)
