after some reading, i'm looking at some Audio Technica ATH-A700 Art Headphones

anything else to recommend?

Look around you can get a pair of ATH A900 Art headphones for £110. Very comfortable, though compared to others you might initially find it light on bass.

Sennheiser HD-25's are awesome closed cans (use them for DJ'ing) and can be found for about £110.
+1

They are used by DJ's, sound recordists, commentators, etc...

There's a good reason for this, they are well made and you can get tons of spares for them in case anything breaks.

With other headphones it's often a case of having to buy new headphones if the headband breaks for example...

Finnally, they sound very nice, mine aren't far off HD-600's really, in fact I prefer the HD-25's for some sorts of music. Try them out if you can. :)

Beyerdynamic DT100's. Can't recommend them enough. Every part is replacable, they're comfy, block outside noise extremely well and they sound great. They are phones that will last and take a beating.

ATH A900 are closed and ive loved mine from the very start, there durable and lightweight and large cans they right over your ear they can take a bashing too ive dropped mine a few times :)

Cant hear the sound even if I take em off and a meter away... now theres some impressive closed action right there.

Idealy id like to say there your best bet but ive never tried any other cans apart from open ones (senns hd 595) but I checked on head fi forums and the A900s are amongst the highest rated closed cans.
