I just got my first Android and I'm struggling to figure out how to exit apps. It seems you can only go back out of them but they are still running when I check the settings. How do I properly close them?

Oh. Is there a timeout or something on it then? For example, you can't stop the music player or exit it you can only pause it. I was a bit worried that my phone was going to start pumping out The Backstree... I mean The Rolling Stones... in the library earlier on because I hadn't closed the music player.

It won't unless you go back into the app and start it playing again.

You can switch between recently used apps by holding down the Home button.

It stays in memory until you either use it again or you open a program which needs the RAM then it gets closed by android. Some programs have an exit option, sometimes pressing the back button will close the program.

Right oh. I was concerned about battery life moreso than anything else.
Cheers for the tip about the Home button TheVoice, that'll come in very useful.
