Looking for a recommendation guys.

Parents have two iMacs. My mum is an artist and her iMac has about 600GB worth of media on it. I have set them up so that both iMacs are backing up to external HDs but at the moment we have not covered a scenario of theft/fire etc.

Is there a decent cloud backup service that could run in the background and automatically back up their data? It doesn't have to be the entire computer, just their user folders on the hard drive would be sufficient. Bearing in mind we're talking about a TB in total and it's likely to increase.

They're happy to shell out around £10/month if that's what it takes. So far I've found CrashPlan but was wondering what else is out there and if anyone on here has personal experience? I'm looking to chip in as my Dad's iMac has about 200GB of RAW files from my holidays/travelling etc.

Many thanks :)

I use Arq to backup to Amazon glacier. I don't have as much data as you so not sure if it would be cheaper than crashplan. But it ticks all your other boxes.

+ 1 for Crashplan

Been using it almost 3 years now, saved my bacon a few times and to be honest it's just flipping awesome :) Uploading is slow but I've got about 500Gb on it.

You can access your data any time you want with the Apple/Android apps too which is nice.

Right, looks like Crashplan is the way forward.

Is it worth making sure their broadband provider doesn't have any bandwidth limits on upstreaming or will it be fine? I think they're with BT Infinity. I presume you can tell it to do the initial backup over a long period of time?

Cheers guys

Yes definitely make sure there isn't a data limit! The software tends to just trickle the files to their servers, took a good couple of weeks for all my machines to backup.
