Cloud Storage & Backup Reccomendations

I have finally broken away from Apple (yay for me) and I want to find a replacement to icloud with a few more added features. I have being doing some research this past week and still cant decide.

I am looking for storage and backup with sync if possible. I have looked at Google Drive (no backup) Pogoplug (looks good, confusing plans) Microshaft Live drive (do I want to go from apple to MS?)

There are loads of other too. I wonder if you people have any recommendations?

Thanks for the suggestions so far chaps. Maybe I actually don't need backup, maybe I just need storage and Dropbox will be fine.

I just got an S4 in the US, but on verizon it did not come with the 50GB free which is a pain.

I like the idea of using 2 that may work. I will all have a look at carbonate. Wula syncs as well right?

I'm trying to move away from iCloud completely and apple devices. So first step was to ditch the iPhone. I have an up ad I want to swap for an android device and I will probably keep the mac book for the wife

So what I did was try crash plan last night, my initial thoughts are it so slow. I have 35mb up here in the US, I started it at 8 last night and it's only done 10 gig out of 48 this morning.
