i loved it, when the action started and everyone was like, wtf is going on outside? so they all go to the roof, and then it all starts kicking off, i had a sense of fear and panic when it happened, the sort of feeling like when a dream goes wrong but its definately one for the cinema rather than a quiet viewing at home for sure. unless you have a monster sound system.

Hugely overrated imho. Watched about an hour of it and then turned it off as I couldn't be bothered to watch the rest!
Watched 'The Kite Runner' the other night, great film that I highly recommend you watch instead of this tripe tbh.

To go against the majority i thought it was a fantastic film, very entertaining and gripping. This coming from someone who usually finds generic action films a bit tiresome

Same here. I was pretty much on the edge of my seat most of this film, bit like I was when I first saw Aliens like 20 years ago.

The sounds were very scary and added a lot, I think it would lose a lot of appeal if you dont have a really nice setup to watch it on.

Loved the guy holding the camera too, annoying yet very funny in parts, “That’s something else, also terrible” made me giggle.

Enjoyed it far more than Ironman which I saw the next day.

A very frustrating film in many ways. Just as things are looking to get waaaaaay cool with the army and airforce giving the monster the good news, the camera cuts away to look at the gormless morons we've been stuck with for at least an hour already. If I wanted juddery camera work and lots of people shouting gibberish on my telly, I'd watch all the rubbish viewer videos sent in to BBC News 24 after a major incident.

I did like the section in the tipped over skyscraper though, that showed a bit of imagination. The exploding woman was quite amusing too, but was it ever explained why she went pop?

Thought it was a good film. As someone has also stated, if it was on at the Cinema again Id pay to watch it again. Although Id give the huge Nandos meal before it a miss.

Also for anyone who already has it on DVD, towards the end of the movie when the film flips to Robs recording of him and Beth on the Fairground wheel, look carefully at the sea behind Beth and you'll see the monster drop from the sky into the sea.

nope, have a read on loads of websites on the internet, the big one in the city was a lot bigger compared to the one at the end, the one at the end was the baby, theres more than one creature.

Thought it was great, was on the edge of my seat nearly all the way through. Rather disappointed they showed so much of the monster though, would have liked faint silhouettes in the smoke and audio descriptions from actors and media only. Acting and sound were very good too. Shaky cam wasn't nauseating at all(even after eating a bif dinner)?? I think a movie from the military perspective would be nice, footage from headsets and helicopters etc and with much better VFX. Also beginning was 5 or 10 mins too long imo.

Hmmm, is that why the director has been quoted all over the net when I search for "cloverfield baby" saying the one and only monster was itself a baby.
Meaning still only one?

Wasn't utterly tripe but it did seem like a poor combo of War of the Worlds (lets all run in this direction, dodge the craziness, change direction!) and Godzilla (big lizard in New York). Definitely wouldn't watch it again.

This film was great at the cinema, the girlfriend and i really enjoyed it but thought it's the type of film you watch once and the never again.

Defo one for the big screens, it made us feel sick and i had to wait at least 10mins afterwards before i drive the car home because of feeling of motion sickness !

not much of a story just crazyness all the way through.

Definately a cinema experience, i was totally sucked in. Monster films/epic disaster films are pretty much my fave genre on the rare occasions they are done well. This put a new twist on the genre in spectacular fashion. Clear that some wouldnt like it tho, the ending for a start is not what many would call....typical.

get a decent plasma or projector, get the blu ray, get a decent sound system, turn off the lights and whack up the sound.

and it would still be a very average film, watchable but so massively overrated.

should have watched alien and took some pointers on how to do suspense. Also the leaning camera angle annoyed me greatly. Just because it's amateur doesn't mean people will hold the camera lopsided 100% of the time.
