Hi,

My gf's 1996 Nissan Micra has been fairly hard to put into gear at times lately...i had a drive myself and the bite point of the clutch is basically on the floor! Its a cable operated system.

Is this likely to be a new clutch required ? Its not slipping at all, feels fairly solid once in gear.

Thanks

Could be that the clutch cable has stretched. Its worth replacing as its only cheap and you know its done then.

Hi, could be clutch needing adjustment on the cable, as usually the signs of a clutch going is hard to select gear, slipping on hills and the biting point would be on the top of the clutch pedal not the floor, as the cable swears, the biting point gets higher. If it is near the floor, then I would say the clutch is probably OK, though I had a Orion that had a normal-ish bite point, and hard to select gear and this was a worn clutch plate.

Have the clutch cable checked and the clutch control arm. Otherwise I would say that there is a fault on the gearbox. Sometimes the gears can be adjusted on some part of the gear, the remote I think as I had 2 orions adjusted as they were hard to select gear. Also is there oil in the gearbox, as that would cause problems as well.

Hope this helps.

Anthony
