Clutch died, though which bit ?

even then it still puts a hefty load through the box.

also without the (relative) gradual feed of the clutch it can also shock the crank and put extra strain on the cambelt/chain.

What I thought. The way I was doing it (only did it twice, once up to fourth and once down to third) was gentle pressure on the stick, then up the revs til it slotted in, is that essentially the way to do it? I'm just asking in case the clutch ever did go, so I'd be able to drive home without totally shagging the gearbox! Must get roadside cover at some point :p
