Clutch time soon

Look for discoloration due to overheating from sitting at traffic lights in gear etc. You could be fine though.

That shouldn't overheat a clutch, it's slipping under power (e.g. regular drag starts, or simply a worn out clutch) that overheats and blues the steels.
 
I would try to re-use the springs, as you said..heavier springs require a harder pull.

On a side note, I use 1 finger for clutch on the trials bike.
Some folks even remove 3 of the 6 springs with no problems, I think that they do get slightly stiffer springs though for the remaining 3.

Just pointing out that you can try a few things.
 
seems to have stopped slipping

probably due to it being a full litre down on oil:eek::eek:,thats down to a badly leaking cam cover gasket

still could do with a new clutch though soon i suppose
