Could anyone help me with a little problem please?

I have ordered and received my Cooler Master M700 modular PSU and my i7 system parts. Before I can build the system up I need to wait for a HSF as im a idiot and ordered the i7 OEM not retail CPU, so anyway I decided to test the PSU before doing some cable management and having it not work and have to take back out, once plugged just into the socket and connected to a case fan the thing doesn't power up. The PSU fan dont work no LED displaying and the case fan doesn't work.

My question is does it have to be powered to the MB before any of the fans should work or should just plugged into a socket switch the psu fan and led on therefore powering up the PSU itself?

Thanks in advance for any help.

No fans will run till you hit the case power button....

I think thats the answer you are looking for...

You could switch it on for a couple of seconds then turn it off...

I dont have it connected at all the MB atm as im waiting to get the HSF before installing it in the case, so are you saying that it will only power on once connected to the motherboard or should the psu fan still work just from the socket?

If you connect the green wire on the psu 24pin with any of the black wires, then the PSU will start... Do it with a spare bit of wire or something... Otherwise nothing will happen.

Great thats what I needed to hear :) just thought the psu was not working when trying to connect just to the plug socket.

Thanks for the help, very much appreciated.
