Well, after reading some of the less than enthusiastic views on the Stacker 830 when I was waiting for mine to be delivered, I was expecting the worst.

But....

It's not as bad as people are making out. Sure, the styling polarises opinions, but it's no different to some other cases in that respect.

Unless the early batch was made with thinner materials or something, this is certainly NOT flimsy.

There's plenty of options for device placement, and it's certainly got plenty of airflow ability.

So, I'll give it my thumbs up. :)

Its a brilliant case until you compare it to the competition.

It is very flimsey in parts, when you compare it to other cases of the same price and cheaper, especially the 810.

Side panels can be a pain to.

Nothing wrong with it if you take it entirely for what it is, but when you consider the competition in my eyes it falls way short of the mark.

I reckon the panels on an Akasa Eclipse are twice as thick, and the ones on a Lian-li are three-times as thick as the panels on the Stacker 830. In comparison to those, it is flimsy.

No, it has dead-spots and so much open area it's effectively passively cooled. It will make a lot of noise for very little effect. Sorry, but there are much better cases for the money.

Complete speculation going on here. Move along, nothing to see. :D

I disagree, I've had three Eclipse cases, the materials used on the eclipse are not thicker. The difference is that the stacker's side panels have a huge hole cut and have mesh fitted. The eclipse side panels are just as flimsy.

just hope its better than the original stacker as that has a few issues that annoys me but they are a massive case inside

does the new one take the cross flow fan ?

Yes it does. :)

Its considerably worse than the original stacker, why everyone has issue with it.

The 810 is a sort of sideways from the original, some say its better but they both are ugly and to big for me. :p

My screw-guage micrometer disagrees. I actually went back to the office to measure the stacker and the V600 (the two cases we cannot give away the cooling is so bad) and the V600 side panels are a whopping 3mm thick at the corner. The Stacker is 0.91mm at the equivalent position and the Eclipse is 1.3mm at the same place. So, OK - I'll grant you, the Eclipse is not quite twice as thick but it is almost 50% thicker and the Lian Li panel is really 3x the thickness. The Eclipse side panel droops a little ( a few mm) when held over the edge of a desk, the Lian-li would carry tanks and doesn't bend at all, but the Stacker side panel flexes in 2 dimensions because of the mesh.

It wouldn't be an issue if it cooled well, but it really doesn't. It's too open. It actually cools almost as well with the fans turned off.

I know you've just shelled out your own money for one and if you're pleased with it, then great, but I just think there are better made, better cooling cases around. Sorry, just my 2p worth.

thats why i'm wanting to get away from it, wish i'd have got the v1000 in black at the time instead

You went with the right case!

I took a v1000, so many little issues with it.

The v1000+'s are just superb mind, everything the original should have been.

You can get a good price for an original stacker still. :)

I don't really see the issue with the side panels anyway, as they will be fitted to the case and left there. It might be an issue if I was always opening the case up and fiddling with the innards.

Once i've finished the cabling on this unit, it will be put at the other half's desk and just used, only to be opened in case of emergency.

As to the cooling ability, it's certainly quieter than previous eclipse based PC and I'm not seeing any problems with general cooling ability. This is with a E6300/DS4 setup. Which is ideal for the task which it will be used.

:)

I have an 810 and it suits my needs, dual PSU, multi drives, loads of space to work in. Nicely put together too. I've always used full towers, don't know why, just prefer them.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just remember that.
