Just wondering if the Storm series of cases from CoolerMaster are any good and which one is the bes in terms of features and cooling. Also I'd like to know if there are any new cases in this series coming out soon. Cheers guys.

I've got the Scout, and I've mixed feelings about it. The finish, the handle, the I/O panel and a few other features are great, but the cable management provisions suck and the 5.25" bay screwless system has problems taking some standard sized devices. Most people that get it seem to just have issues with the cables, though. (I've posted a few photos and more comments here.

The case is good, but maybe not quite worth the £80.

I've no idea about the Sniper or future releases.

CM Scout: around £80

4x usb front ports
1x e-sata port
headphone / Mic ports
Switch to turn LED fan lights on/ off
Inside of case Painted Black
120mm front fan
120mm rear fan
140mm top fan
Acrylic window: supports 2x 120mm fans
Great Top Handle

VS

CM Sniper: around £125.00

4x usb front Ports
1x e-sata Port
1x IEEE1394 Port
headphone / Mic ports
fan speed/ LED light control
Inside of case NOT Painted
200mm front fan
120mm rear fan
200mm top fan
Bottom: Supports 140mm Fan or 120mm Fan
Side: Supports 200mm or 2x 120mm
Supports water-cooling
Weird Feet

I had to go for the scout as it just looks better to me, yes I know the sniper has better cooling but the Top Handle + inside of the case already painted black on the scout. inc. the lower price just did it for me...

You say that but as i look on your photos i see you done a good job managing the cables, not perfect but still very good. So doesnt seem to be a problem really :p

Thanks. That took a while though, and I thought it was actually easier to do if you cut a lot of the cable ties CM had already put in.

It's doable, but it doesn't make it easy on you. If they'd left an extra 1/2cm behind the back panel and made the hole at the top for the cables a wee shade bigger it would probably make a huge difference.

Yeh it depends how much of a comp geek you are i suppose. if you want to keep opening your case and start taking things appart all the time then yeah one of them huge cases thats size of a small cupboard will be nice :D. Personally i just want to do it once properly and the only other time ill ever open me case is just to give it a good dusting :p

Looks like me dremel will come in handy im planning a few mods anyways.

But like you say its doable and appart from that first time installing everything its sweet as a nut. What sort of cpu temps you getting?

I think it sucks because the cable management is not great and because it has mesh on the side and not perspex, it lets noise out of the case. When the fans are going there is nothing to stop the sound of the fans from comming through the side. It does have some kind of netting over the mesh but it keeps coming off the mesh.

I'd feel nervous taking a dremel to a brand new £80 case, but let me know how it goes for you anyway!

I haven't properly tested the machine yet because I'm still waiting on a graphics card, but the numbers I've got so far are suspiciously low. HWMonitor and BlackBox both have the CPU idling as low as 18°C, and peaking at 32°C after half an hour of Prime 95. I know Phenom X3 720's are supposed to run cool but I'm gonna have to test it for a lot longer and with a few other programs before I'm convinced. It's not even like I've a TRUE strapped to the thing, I'm using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro.

None, wade in with the antec 902. Brilliant case, and not tacky looking (referring to the scout)

The Sniper is overpriced imo, but I wouldnt even consider the scout as there's a lot better cases avaliable for the cash.
