Anybody played it yet? Wow, i mean FM10 has a real challenge here, transfers are uncomplicated, layout is fantastic, transfers are realistic and smooth, and the match engine is superb!!.

Sorry if that came across as fanboy stuff or you think i do work for eidos, but i can assure you i have played Football Manager since 04 and have loved it, but this a real alternative.

How do you know this as I wasn't aware a demo of FM10 was out yet? So your, comparing the CM2010 to err, nothing!

Ok guys, message understood, just looking at this game engine to the game engine of FM09, i would be delighted believe me if si beat this.

Comparing a year old game to a brand new game !

Well done.

Having a nice "in game engine" isn't what FM is about for me :) each to their own.

If I want a nice engine, I play Fifa / PeS

OK, i'll agree that the actual matches probably look better* on CM2010, but the rest of the game is SOOOO far behind even that of FM09 that it won't be able to touch FM10.

*From what I've seen, better graphics but the actual 'football' mechanics of FM09 are still better than what I've witnessed in CM2010. Oh, and take into account the rather fatal bug with the CM2010 set-piece editor which will basically destroy the game if it is not sorted for release.

Only good thing I've heard about this compared to FM is for pre orders theyre doing a pay what you want, like Radiohead - InRainbows, though theres a £2ish (£2.50 thanks Shamikebab) transaction fee.

Ok so I downloaded this (I know, I know...I was bored)

And it's better than I thought, transfer system seems ok, scouting is fun, training is good, tactics screen is nice. All good so far...

Then it got to match day, game over. This sort of game with a crap match day is pointless, and this is the worst I've ever played. Engine is lovely until it starts moving, then the animations are shocking, glitches everywhere. The animations are technically correct but don't happen at the right time:

Example 1: ball played out to Valencia in 40 yards of space, he immediately does a Ronaldo chop back towards goal before doing several step overs with no-one near him.

Example 2: Ball crossed in, Rooney does an overhead back towards the United goal, away from the goal he's right by...yet the ball goes towards the opposition goal.

In the end this is crap, I like some of the features, especially the scouting and training, but the matches are crap and that's the end really.

It's horrendous. The 3d engine looks good but the actual match engine is awful. You only need to go on youtube to see the countless videos people have posted showing how poor the engine is. The worse thing is those videos are how every single game plays out.

The database is poor as well. The number of mistakes on the Middlesbrough database alone beggers belief. And some of the stats left me scratching my head.

The scouting is good thou but everytime I put a bid in for players I'd get a reply saying my bid was rejected for a completely different player who I hadn't even looked at

I doubt I'd pay £2.50 for this since I know I'd just give up on it after an hour.

CM will probably never get over the nature of its history. Previously great, now it is literally and old name, the real cm moved on.

What happened to Championship manager? There are too many different versions nowaday, I remember when it was just the one.

Championship Manager as a 'brand' is owned by Eidos. The game was developed by Sports Interactive, and then published by Eidos under the name 'Championship Manager'.

So when Sports Interactive split from Eidos, they could no longer call their game 'Championship Manager' so subsequent games have been published by SEGA under the name 'Football Manager'.

Eidos still release 'Championship Manager', developed 'in house'. So yeah, only 2 different games, but I see your point.
