I have a similar problem to Hen Dawg in the other thread but Ido not want to hijack it.

I have a CM690 case which has a control panel on top with extra ports etc and I would like to use those for my headset and mic in ventrilo. But have general sound come from the speakers.

I have a Abit IP35 Pro, X-Fi Xtremegamer and the CM690. Using Vista 64bit.

I plugged the 'HD Audio' plug into the motherboard and enabled the onboard sound in the CMOS. But in the sound control panel, none of the recording options show any sound levels when I set them as default.

Can anyone help please cos im not comp savvy and its doing my head in.

Thanks

Has the onboard sound been recognised by Vista ie. when you go into sound control panel do you have the option to select XiFi or onboard as the mic input?

It has, there are more options to choose form in the 'recording' section but none react when I set them as the default.

Does anyone know if Vista has a 'recor and playback' feature so I can test each one out properly?

Ok I got it sorted i think, I don't have vent through the headset but i think i live with that.
