Ok, I'm still new to this building malarky, so if anyone can provide their opinions it is appreciated. My new new rig arrived on tuesday, and I'll finally be getting to my home tonight after working away from home, will be like an early Christmas lol.
Anyways, my question is, the case comes with 3 fans, front, rear and top.
I have purchased a futher two 120mm fans, where is the best place to put these to achieve optimal air flow and cooling. I've read that using side panel fans can cause a conflict with the normal air flow from front to back, is this an issue?
I was thinking of leaving the 3 that come where they are, front fan on intake, back on exhaust, and what will the top one likely be set to?
With the two new ones I was thinking on maybe putting at the bottom on intake, and make sure the top and back are exhaust, or should I have more set to exhaust than intake?
Thanks for any help, will be much appreciated for my first build lol!
Oh and the PSU fan, what effect does this have?

You can mount the PSU fan so it's drawing air through the bottom of the case, the dust filter does a good job of keeping most of the dust from being drawn into your PSU so I would probably go down that route.

I personally would mount another 120mm fan in the top of the case so you've got two exhaust fans there, heat rises so having a lot of ventilation in the top of the case is always a good idea. If it won't interfere with your PSU cabling, having a bottom intake fan is also a good idea. I also have a side panel fan as an exhaust, right above my 480. The 480 pumps out a lot of heat, a lot of which is dumped back into the case. Having a fan just above the card pulling the heat out of the case made a big difference on temps for me.

In some ways, the best fan combinations will vary slightly depending on your hardware and how much heat it's pushing into your case. If you've got the time, experiment with different fan combinations and see if it affects your temps.

I would add one fan to the bottom middle as intake, and one on the lower side panel as exhaust- same as dave has suggested. However, I find that the rear and rear top exhaust is sufficient...adding another one to the middle top don't help too much. so don't really need a 2nd exhaust at top. I used to have the lower side panel as intake, but out of curiousity I switch it from intake to exhause, and it dropped my 5850's load temp by around 5C!

Here's how my current set up in my 690II Advanced looks like:

So with this one ur suggesting I'll be using the front as it is, extra fan intake in bottom, leave the top and back that come at standard on exhust, and one more extract on side panel.. Will give it a go.. Cheers
