CMO panel LCD - in comparison to latest lcd's?

The only lcd monitor i have any real experience with is a 19" widescreen (v7) with a CMO panel which my gf has. I'm curious how big the difference is between this sort of LCD and the top of the range lcd's from dell and co?

Wondering if theres a big difference in response time and picture quality? Compared to say..dell's E207WFP 20" ?

Also, is there a good place to get info on all the different types of lcd panels so i don't have to ask a similar daft question in the future?

welcome to the forums. firstly panel technologies explained should help regarding the questions you might have. CMO are a panel manufacturer and the V7 screen your sister has is a TN Film panel. CMO are pretty good, and a fairly big co, but panels from AU Optronics and Samsung may well offer improvements in terms of colour accuracy, responsiveness, overdrive control etc. You may well see an improvement moving to a bigger screen manufacturer (Dell, Samsung, LG etc) and to a model using a panel from a larger panel manufacturer. you can check what panel a TFT uses using the panel search tool here as well http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/
