Hi,
I replaced the CMOS battery in my motherboard as the computer would not keep the correct time and date. The motherboard is nearly 4 years old and the battery had never been changed. I powered the computer down, earthed myself, unplugged the power cord, and switched the battery for a new one. When I powered up, I got the following message: "CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded. Press F1 to continue or DEL to enter setup." That sounded logical to me as the previous bios settings would be lost when removing the old battery. However, when I restarted my computer, the screen stayed blank and I had to use the reset button on the case. When it booted up I got another message which said something about previously failing to boot and requested I reset my bios to defaults, which I did. Now this just keeps happening. I've tried customising the bios to how I thought it was before (no overclocking or fancy tweaking), including setting the time and date and boot priority etc. No change. I can skip the message and boot into Windows by pressing F1 without any problems, but when I restart, I just get a blank screen and have to physically reset it. My motherboard is an ASUS M2N32 WS Pro.
If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear it.
Cheers, Ben.
