CMOS settings not retained

Hi all, hope you can help!!

I have a socket A mboard into which I've built an AMD XP2000+ recently. All works brilliantly except... the CMOS settings revert to default / empty each new morning that I switch the computer on. I have to go into Setup and re-configure it all every time.

I've tried replacing the CR2032 battery twice but to no avail.

I'm sure it's really simple, but what am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the reset jumper, if the board has one?

Could be your BIOS may have got corrupted, perhaps re-install.

A mate had a problem same as yours...turned out a capacitor near the bios chip was bulging so we pressumed that was causing the problem. Only way around it was to leave the computer on at wall and psu.

i put my money on the cmos battery it sounds like it no longer has enough charge to be able to power the bios and retain the settings.
cheap fix as they only cost about £2 at most

The op has tried that, but did not work
