CNC machine can't delete from Windows XP

Hi all,

A friend just installed a brand new CNC machine in his workshop.

He uses a simple setup of a switch which is connected a windows xp desktop and also to the machine.

Now the old machine could view and delete files from the shared drive on the xp machine however the new one (with exactly the same settings apart from IP) cannot.

I've tried using the old machines IP on the new one and changing other configs however nothing seems to be working.

The machine just says that it is unable to write to the hard drive...

you need to check the permissions for the share, it might have been set to only allow access specifically to the old computer.
