Co-Op/Multiplayer Games for PC

Are there any good Co-Op or Multiplayer games available for the PC?

The misses wants to get an xbox to play games as she thinks that gaming on the PC is rubbish, If I can find a decent selection of multiplayer games I could play with her then I could probably convince her to spend the money for an xbox on upgrading my PC and getting 2 xbox controllers for it too!

I have found worms is multiplayer and also supports the controller. How do you find out if PC games support the xbox controller?

I don't think there's many 2 player (as in same screen) games for PC, get an Xbox.

There's only sports, racing and beat em ups that'd work multiplayer on one pc I think. Oh yeah, and most turn based games.

I think Resident Evil 5 is coop on the same machine, might still be cheap in the steam sale as well. If shes anything like my gf try her with Sims 3 or Wow and she'll be well away.

Convince her to buy a full gaming rig and play some games over LAN. Or get a her Wii....

There is a way to get l4d 1 and 2 working split screen, would have to look on the steam forums for how to do it.

To the OP, in case you don't know:
games with the term "Local Coop" can be played on the same machine, "LAN Coop" means on the home network - which is sadly becoming a rarity too.

Yes

and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a great co op game, you have to work together to solve the puzzles and it make for a very satisfying game.

Trine is a good one too.

Maybe also single player adventure/puzzle games? You might not be able to actually play together, but they're the kind of single player games you can share. Figuring out puzzles and what not.

Things like Braid, Portal, Machinarium, probably a thousand Pop Cap games etc.

Nope not for the PC version which was a stupid move by Capcom.

There arent many, so if shes spending her own money shes better off buying an xbox for split-screen.

dont be cheap and upgrade your PC with your own money lol.
