Coarse salt for salt grinder

Any one got any reccomendations?

I bought some of this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tidmans-Na...&s=morrisons&sprefix=salt,morrisons,73&sr=1-8

But it's more like flakes than chunky crystals, so I have to be really carefull with my electric grinder, otherwise I get a lot more salt comming out than I bargained for.

Surely any rock salt would do? My dad uses a Tildman salt for his grinder I think.

We use whatever Asda put in their own brand tub, works absolutely fine. Solid and crunchy

The peppercorn one works really well, perfectly, as the pepper corns are a bit harder to crunch

what I'd got, usually get sea salt which has some other minerals and usually better flavour when directly on veg/potatoes,
the wetter sea salts are also nice, can gum up grinders.

Cheap cheerful, does a cracking job, is adjustable, but will not win any willy waving comps.
What goes in it is whatever I buy, from Maldon, Cornish, Himalayan, ASDA, Aldi, French and Morrisons.

I love how it says its GMO free :-D

But it doesn't say whether it's gluten free, or if it's suitable for vegans. So I'll have to pass on that ;-)

himalayan seems to have reputation for occasional bits of (real) rock so have never bought any.

I had a pasta dish last night that was not only suitable for vegans but suitable for vegetarians as well.

Just get any rock salt and stick it in a ramekin.

Sprinkle on food while making it or just as it's finished cooking.

Pepper on the other hand has to be in a pepper grinder.

Are you sure you can do that with rock salt. I use sea salt like that but never rock salt .

Either or, doesn’t matter as long as its not table salt. Larger the grains quicker it’ll draw the moisture out.

for both clean sea salt and rock salt the grains don't dissolve as fast sprinkled directly on food versus wettter/grey sea salt I prefer ... so more chance to break something crunching down.

magnesium salts and other minerals in sea salt give it more flavour ... salt != salt

I buy the Saxo Course, pop the lid sieve and chuck it back in for the Cole & Mason multi grinder.
