Hi there, each day we give our baby Cockatiel seed with mix fruit and scrambled egg, this seems to be working ok, but I just wondered is it possible to overfeed them? I searched online but couldnt find any material on this, I found information on what not to feed them, and what's best to feed them etc but couldnt find anything on how much to feed them, or if overfeeding is possible?

They say Cockatiel's are intelligent birds so does this mean if they're full they wont eat, or is it possible they could eat themselves to death?

Thanks in advance:confused:

I've tried but cant find an answer to the question, and the reason this all came about is because people have been telling me today I am giving it too much and might kill it, but I think they're wrong, so was hoping you guys could answer me so I can prove I'm right, lol.

I'd have thought they'd know how much to eat... most birds you just leave the food / seed in the cage. At least the ones we've had. Fair enough though, they were only budgies.

Are you sure that you shouldn't be giving him/her proper baby food. When we had to hand rear one we got special food and it had intructions with it on quantities. I know that our chickens would eat themsleves to death given half a chance.

We just gave ours seed when the dish was empty along with a few seed/honey sticks and the natural seed/grain 'branches' too
