Coconut oil - What is it good for?

Bought a tub of these after hearing some good health benefits, a bit like Avacado but how do you eat it or use it?

Coconut oil is one of the most versatile healthy oils in existence. It can be substituted for pretty much any oil in any recipe at a 1:1 ratio.

It has a very high smoking point making it amazing for a healthy high heat cooking.

I often use it for frying stuff like steaks. Gives a pleasant nutty flavour.

Absolutely nothing, say it again now!

Damn..I wanted to reply with that :p

Coconut oil (at least the virgin kind) actually doesn't have a high smoke point but it generally doesn't suffer in the same way as (e.g) olive oil when it is heated too much.

In regards to uses...I agree with the above. Apparently it can be dodgy with eggs as it tends to overwhelm the flavour but aside from that I substituted it in tons of recipes. It was particularly good in curries (both Thai and Indian) as it closely melded with the flavours I was already using.

my ex sticks it in her hair sometimes then wraps clingfilm over it before bed lol...

I think it's supposed to make your hair shiny :P

Interesting, I've recently bought coconut water to try and add more flavour to my home made protein bars. If the water doesn't work too well will try and get some oil to add.

My girlfriend makes high energy fruit and nut balls for long distance running and uses coconut oil in them, seems to do the trick.

I mainly just use it for Thai cooking.
