COD 3 Vet Mode - Chapter 8 (the Forest)

Hi all,

Working my way through COD 3 on vet mode and have hit a brick wall. I'm at what i believe to be the last part of chapter 8. I cross a road, go through a bit of a forest and take a bunker - loads and loads of enemies but its doable in about 10 mins. Anyway, i do all this and go through the bunker and reach a mortar. I have to blow up a road block. This sounds easy but its near impossible as germans run up to you whilst using the mortar. Your allies are not help as they just run into eachother. If i die i start all the way on the other side of the road :(

Any advice here?

Whilst we're on the subject of cod3 on veteran :p ...

I'm currently at the bit where you're told to fallback into a factory, then hold position until a tank blows through a building. I fire 2 panzer's at it and then someone starts moaning about a lack of ammo, so then i'm told to help someone plant charges on a tank. Now I get to this point and I cant get anywhere near the checkpoint, i find myself just sitting in the factory constantly killing respawning enemies.

Do i have to go out the factory front door and try and get around or is there a different way?

Go to the entrance and turn right and go all the way around the building till you come to a side where you see two tanks parked up. Approach the star and continue. If you take a few hits when coming out of the factory don't stop, keep running!!!! :)
 
i'll give it a try later :)

I was on it for an hour trying to do the same bit, in the end i gave up, decided I was gonna sell it and played geometry wars instead :p

But i won't sell it, i WILL complete it eventually if it kills me
 
If you look at the tank that blows through, at 7'olock there is a doorway (on your level) that leads outside, you can use that to go around the factory and take cover by the blown up tank, let your buddy plant a charge on the other - then you have to plant the large charge - i suggest throwing a few smokes and just running at it like a gooden.

For me this level was the hardest in the game
 
I havn't got any smokes, when I can be arsed to give it a try i'll just close my eyes and run i think.

So far, on vet, the hardest part was definately chapter 2 - taking the hill. Nearly lost my sanity over that, before i finally beat it :)

It's only wordpress using the infamous k2 theme :)

All i added was a few classes to the style.css, added a highlight color for my comments and changed the font a bit so it looked better. Also added an amazing blog description too, cuz i rock. I installed the sidebar widgets plugin,AJAX commenting, tiger OS admin panel thing and rob miller's progress bar widget for the achievements progress) he made due to my whining :) (thaniks again dude!)

As you're adding stuff and altering the layout you learn quite a lot about wordpress too. It looks really complicated at first but isn't too bad.

I could also do with a bit of help with Veteran! I am on level five, a semi destroyed industrial complex. I have to block the counter attack in 3 places, a valve, a crane and a charge. I have done all three ending up at the crane. It then tells me to defend the NE corner WITHOUT first giving me a sodding checkpoint! Soliders just keep on spawning from all sides and I can't figure it out :(

I know Veteran COD is no easy task as I did COD2, but I am not sure I can cope with this again!! The end of the last level, where you come up some stairs under the bridge where blokey diffuses the bomb had me stuck for an age!

You're at the worst part of the game...I eventually got the enemy cycle down to an art-form and it was still difficult. Instead of heading back from the crane the way you came, continue round the block (assuming you went crank, charge, crane) and back into the building you started in. Easiest method I found.

This is where I am now. Blokey has blown up the first tank, but now I have to place the charge on the last tank and only have one smoke :(

No way are you at the worst part. The end of chapter 8 with the mortar is a nightmare! This bit is seriously hard. I have spammed 3 mortars at the blockade and the germans still keep coming. Where do i have to hit exactly?
