This is driving me nuts now and i havent changed a thing.

Came back from working in london and now cannot get past Awaiting cd key authorisation all the time.

Tried the following:

Connecting through X fire and in the game.
I can creat my own server - no-one connected though
The game also willl not refresh the server list btw.
Reinstalled the full game
Router reboot -serveral times
turning off the windows firewall alltogether
opening the ports it ive been told to -28960?
not got hamachi installed.

Running windows vista 64 and orange BB:rolleyes:

Ive tried google but it wasnt my friend...

can the Ocuk community sort it..

Peerguardian 2 perhaps, blocking activision ?

Oh vista x64, hmmm I don't know (ignore pg2 thing, it doesnt even work in vista), for now you could go to cracked servers and join them with xfire as they don't need key code authentication, why you can't see any browser list ingame though is beyond me.
All I can say tbh atm as don't have a clue what could be wrong...

by reinstalling, does that mean a backup of save, an uninstall followed by a fresh install?

I used to get the same problem on COD2, if after 30 secs of trying i would escape out, and have to re-enter the CD key in an option in the multiplayer menu.

yes i removed the whole game and backed up my players folder thats it.

Reinstalled a fresh install put back in my players folder but still the same prob..

Hmm just tried rentering my cd key also.

Does anyone know the ip address of activisions licence key server so may i could try pinging it?

just had a quick google for you before i go home, it seems that CoD1, 2 and 4 all suffer with this, here is a few suggestions:

when you next get that error message, press ESC, and drop down console and type:

/reconnect

Hit enter and you should be able to start playing.

The "awaiting CD key authorization" error is simply the Activision Master Server cant verify your key. This can be due to several things:

1. You are behind a router that needs its game ports forwarded

2. your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is over subscribed (too many people on one local DSL exchange)

3. Activision Authentication server too busy to handle you.

To get around this problem easily, download All Seeing Eye and use that. Its free - just google for it - and will search for COD game servers and allow you to connect to them.

Its better than the game's in-built server scanner, and wont give you nearly as many problems.

I found a fix here that has worked for me and all my friends. Everytime we have a lan party, a few of us would get this error. Not anymore! Can be either due to multiple network adapters, network stack order, or a bad entries in your hosts file. http://www.lanpartyguide.com/cod2.html

let me know if anything helps, I will keep looking about for you.

Thanks very much.

I tried the reconnect bit many times and nothing.

thought id done the prt forwarding

not sure on there server

im running x fire that can see all the servers and still cannot connect through that.

i read the lan part article too, tried forwarding TCP: 28960

UDP: 28960, 20500, 20510

as suggested and think i have, but in the orange box adaptor it only shows the last forward you made..

Orange broadband users are having problems tonight with connecting to any sort of games server, I'm with them too.
I can't log into Steam or get a response from CoD:UO or CoD4s master server.
Theres a thread on the Steam forums with users not being able to log into Steam and they are all on Orange.
