COD 4 connection issues

Hi I have just bought COD4 and trying to connect is proving to be difficult I am using a sky router you know the standard white ones. I have forwarded the port 28960 by doing services under security for TCP and UDP. And everytime I go to connect It just gets to 11 and says server times out. I got connected once and then it won't connect again. Has anyone got any ideas ??

Well, if you mean right now, I think there may be a problem. Both me and a friend are having trouble even displaying the server list, let alone connecting.

yeah there was a issue on the master server , people have been saying that 11 is too short of a time for it to connect so here's the fix.

Credit to the person who discovered this:

want to fix that server connection timed out

goto your console enable it in game options

type /cl_connectionAttempts to at least 30 the default of 10 is a ridiculous number

i originally suggested 60 for 1 minute some servers took me to 50 or so to join

but most will in under 30 and you will need the extra time say for instance the messed with the master server and required a lot of users to Await key code authorization

you will have to enter this everytime you start the game before it will save

a workaround is to add the line /seta cl_connectionAttempts "30" in the config_mp file in your profile

Well I can refresh the server list, but it justs counts 30 and drops out now! Anyone else ? Or does it look like an issue all over , worst luck since I just bought the game

It's an issue for everyone at the moment. Earlier I could connect to any server almost instantly, now it times out almost every time.
