cod 4 patches

I got cod4 in the box last week ish, I've heard there is a patche(s) or something for it? Can someone in the know tell me exactly what to do and where to get it/them

Don't get 1.4 - it makes pings huge.

I'm using the 'stock' version at the moment, works fine, plenty of servers.

ok, so it goes up to 1.5! With a new map. I must be on stock. Why are there still so many servers?

What are peoples recommendations with the patches? Apply or just leave stock?

1.5 may have fixed the problems in 1.4 - but I wouldn't want to risk it yet.

I'd stay with stock for now, plenty of servers as people haven't bothered updating. Although if you are a hardcore gamer there may be a few naughty people around using exploits in the stock version.

lol update to latest theres 20,000 cod 4 servers only a fraction of that on other patches.also more hackers on lower patches.

i got from stock and just downloaded all the patches and installed in order from 1.1-1.2-1.3-1.4-1.5

there are LOADS more servers on 1.5 than 1.0 (stock) so worth it. plus after reading what the patches do its worth updating.

stories of your rank disappearing with anything sub 1.4 was scary enough.

i cant install 1.1 :/

This application has failed to start because mss32.dll was not found

Any ideas?

edit- don't worry, i just skipped 1.1 and went straight to 1.2, which it seemed was fine to do, im fully at 1.5 now

All you need is 1.4 & 1.5, no need for any of the earlier ones.
