COD:4 question

Not sure if this is allowed or not but here goes. If not then sorry.

I got myself a "test" copy of the game to see if I liked it or not. Since I love it I went out and bought an original today.

In order for me to keep my saved games etc, do I just install the legit copy over the top of the old one and use the new key?
