The MP is ok but with no squads BF2 is better but the single player was just awesome, the whole thing just goes the major distance graphically and game play wise too.

I just played it all and it just blew me away.

I haven't played online but the single player was freakin' awesome...more for the little elements like...(spoilers follow)

Oh come on, I know its similar but for an FPS it rocks beyonf belief. What other FPS has the gun ship exercise, the silos etc and the realism and the AI is quite good too.

OK it aint perfect but the best so far for war based FPS.

Right from the very beginning of the game where you drop onto the boat as the SAS my jaw just dropped and i knew that this game was going to be as good as perfect :)

I say this all the time, and i can imagine it being totally crap when it comes out now but I think Operation Flashpoint 2 is gonna be classic

I do like COD4 a lot! Although while it may be a good looking action packed game, the single player 'campaign' is way too short for my liking.

I got this after not played pc games for years.

Must say i was mega impressed, but due to the fact its soo short i was left a little short.

I'd rather have a game i can play for a week or so than before dinner

I've gotta say, it's probably one of my favourite games ever.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything special, but even though it's pretty much on rails all the way though and isn't a particularly long game, the story, graphics and gameplay more than made up for it.

I was just so impressed by the variety of missions, particularly the bombing from the plane, sniper mission and the part where you "wake up" after the nuke has gone off, then just crawl around a bit until the darkness consumes you.

There wasn't a dull moment in it. I actually played it through to the end, and have since completed it a few more times - a rare thing for me to see a game out, even rarer for me to go back to it.

I thought it was fantastic. Fine, it does a lot of set pieces, but it does them better than anything else ;) The presentation is outstanding.

I found COD4 to have a great story and included some amazing cinematic gameplay and music.

However, it surprised me how little re-play value it had, especially as someone who normally completes a storyline 3-4 times. Perhaps I've just been spoilt by Crysis' sandbox gamestyle.

I really liked the game but it was far far too short. I was just getting geared up for the game when the ending game and it left me feeling (for some reason) short changed. The MP is ver good though, it just didn't grab me the way the SP did.

It takes most of the better aspects of CoD and FPS games in general and weaves it all in to one game very nicely.

Revolutionary, not so much.

Its just a "better" medal of honor tbh. People are just dazzled by the graphics. Game play is nothing new. Operation Flashpoint or Half Life has far better game play. The Single Player COD4 is short and the spawning is a joke throughout. Its the best, of its genre. But its genre is very limited.

It's revolutionary in the sense that it was the first game I ever played where I almost felt as if I was playing a game and watching a film at the same time. Visually its brilliant and the way it made the player a part of the cut-scenes made it completely immersive.

You can't really compare Operation Flashpoint and Call of Duty 4...they're trying to do different things. One's about the instant action, big explosions and lots of shooting....the other is a little more subdued, more about tactics and strategy.

True the genre is limited...but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Different games for different "needs"
