I've heard some conflicting information out there.

4690k, 16gb ram, GTX980 and XB270HU gsync monitor.

I like playing COD MW and BLOPS, BLOPS2

Should i set

/com_maxfps 125

or

/com_maxfps 144

Trying to understand why 125 would be better than 144 on the COD games. People say 125 for COD, but without explaining why.

Comes down to maths rounding/accuracy bugs - all game engines have them to one degree or another but in idtech3 engine based games (which the COD games are based on) it allowed you to jump slightly higher and move slightly faster in some situations. 125fps is one of those "magic" FPS figures that if capped to allowed you to benefit from it. Some of the games (IIRC MW2) cap max at 85 (shows as 90) to try and even this out but the better ones should be using fixed pmove code that gives everyone the advantage regardless of their framerate.

With g-sync you generally get the lowest input latency by setting 144Hz and then capping framerate to 120-135fps anyhow so you don't really lose anything by running COD games at 144Hz refresh, 125fps cap.
