Its with great satisfaction and with a nice smile (big smiles don't happen after yer team gets reamed at home by a team with the word 'Arse' in it) that i heard today that COD:MW2 did not win game of the year. I think this was a console award but hey ho - it still hurt them.

One of the comments I heard was that IW staff looked 'puzzled' when they didnt win....I would love to see footage of that - the IW team who so dilligently went about the task of upsetting the PC community...looking upset fantastic.

I think personally its the best way for them to end the year - lets see BFBC2 and MOH rebourne take over the mantle of FPS early next year and then watch COD MW3 go straight to console.

Anyone who has video of the IW team looking peeved after not winning the award please upload

I don't think there is just one official 'Game of the Year' award to win, I can't help feeling there isn't really much to this story.

Much more likely something like a PS3 magazine has given Uncharted 2 their GOTY award or something.

Why would a featureless, shallow rehash of a game released 2 years ago have won GOTY anyway, Does this surprise anyone really ?

Uncharted 2 won it in the spiketv awards and deservedly so imo. With that said i'm sure many other publications will award COD6 the game of the year title. At the end of the day COD6 sales have outstripped those of Uncharted 2 by miles on the playstation 3 alone, so regardless of which game won the game of the year in publications' awards, Infinity Ward are the real winners with a lot of money in their pockets.

money isn't everything - i think in this day and age kudos is very important for a development company...something that infinity ward used to have in buckets...now they dont have enough to fill a bucket!

The fact that they were there and that they thought they were going to win it and didn't is enough for me. I firmly believe that there will be one or more executives at the IW offices today finding something to put in the empty space they had made on Friday for this award.

my god, i've never seen anyone with a chip on their shoulder as much as you!

i'm sure they're happy with their pay packets anyway.

on a related note - uncharted 2 did deserve to win. a masterpiece of game making.

LOL @ op

It's a game for christs sake, get some perspective on life please?

You talk as if IW execs mugged you or something. Do you get this vitriolic when other companies make products you're not interested in?

LOL, I am smiling - yeah I paid 34.99, game was OK (although its got the longevity of me wotsit when confronted by drew barrymore naked!) - don't believe the amount of hype around it - I love games...all games....I just don't like the cash cow, marketing side of it all which Activision seem to be focused on.

Actually they did mug me digitally, they palmed off a sesame street version of a game that already exists.

I am a geek therefore vitriol is a part of my daily routine.....it made me smile is all.

no one forced you to buy it. CoD is not a natural resource you're entitled to.

Don't know why you bought it frankly if you have so much scorn for how badly IW apparently wronged you. The least you could've done is stuck to your principals and hit them in the only place it would actually register - their bottom line.

Protestors are their own worst enemy when they capitulate on a whim, that's why that online petition (among other things) was a complete waste of time. Hardly anyone has the courage of their convictions anymore, and it's so easy and trite to sign a meaningless e-petition.

I suppose its easy to blame IW and think they are just out to annoy PC gamers, but in reality the decision probably came from someone at Activision who was probably even more removed from the situation, just look at the stupid decisions EA make, what's happened to Westwood and the general quality of Command and Conquer Games has to be the biggest crime yet in PC gaming.
