Wasnt sure wether this belongs in pc games or graphics, anyway i installed mw2 the other night via steam, the game plays fine for a few minutes then the system freezes, ive tried updating directx via steam apps but the problem persists. Full specs in sig, os, win 7 64 home premium latest nvidia drivers.

Maybe your CPU/RAM oc is crashing your system, I had freezes with my i7 920 @4Ghz, turned out I was not giving the ram enough juice even though it was running at its 1.65 spec, turned it up to 1.69, been perfect since.

The 4.0ghz overclock was tested with intel burn test, 20 runs maximum level, 16 threads, ddr voltage at 1.64 (currently running ram at 1547 mhz, below rated 1600 mhz) Ill try running at stock as well to rule out the oc. Gpu is at stock, tested with 3dmark 06 without issues.

I can push my OC further than I run at, it'll pass every stability test going but I still got occasional crashes in games, since stepping back the clock a bit no crashes

Set the system back to stock and tried running the game again, 5 minutes in it freezes again, had to exit via task manager.

Nothing in event viewer, from a bit of google searching, this freezing issue seems to be pretty common.

I had been using the 191.07 drivers when i first installed the game, updated to the latest 195.62 but theyve made no difference.

Well even when I had my OC down to 3.2 my system would still freeze, there was no blue screen or error message just a freeze and a hard reset required, it was 100% the ram not getting enough volts even though it was running below spec.

The sound doesnt stutter at all, im currently back at stock settings, when the game does freeze if i hit ctrl, alt del and bring up task manager i can get it going again. Also occasionally i get missing textures in game or the foreground goes black with a few coloured dots but i can still see the first person view of my gun. The graphics card isnt overheating as its barely going over 65c, ive tested the card with both 3d mark 06 and furmark, max temp recorded in furmark extreme burn was 85c, fan speed on auto. Im beginning to think that its more of a problem with the game itself, and hopefully a patch should sort it out.

How frustrating!

Have you tried running at a lower resolution and see if that lasts any longer, might help narrow the issue down.
How old is your PSU? Do you have access to another PSU to test?
Also, have you got the latest sound drivers installed?

Ive tried running lower res as well to no avail, psu is just over a year old, 750w thermaltake toughpower, regarding the sound drivers for the p6t deluxe v2, im currently using the generic windows driver applied during the installation of win 7 64, the latest driver version on the asus website doesnt seem to work in win 7 64.

I cant even get the asus supplied drivers mate, currently using the onboard sound with a basic windows driver. What audio driver are you currently using on your p6t darkblade?

I'm using a Fatal1ty X-Fi card in my rig - not had any problems playing the game.

Having Googled the freezing issue it seems that this game is very fussy about the latest drivers (Sound, GFX, etc), so I do wonder if the basic Windows sound driver is causing your issue. Try disabling the sound chip in the BIOS and see if it makes a difference, that way you know it is at least not the sound causing the problem.

EDIT: I've also seen a suggestion to turn off the Steam Community while playing the game. Not great if you want to use multi player and chat over Steam!

Setter, my dad was having similar issues with his new rig, I found out that it was his power settings being set to balanced instead of high performance, and also the new AVG that was causing his issues.

Since I changed his power settings over to high performance, and re-installed AVG he hasn't had those issues anymore.
