Didn't know where to start the thread, so I did it here.

I have upgraded my PC (GPU and Ram) few days ago and after that got MW3 game. The problem is: after few hours of playing MW3 (maybe even less) my PC crashes - monitor switches off, sound is stuck on loop and nothing is happening. I have to restart my PC by myself. Event log doesnt show the reason for the crash (maybe because there was no actual crash, since I manually restart it), only after restart it says that PC wasn't switched off correctly.

I thought it might be overheating of my new GPU - nope! Temperature didnt go past 43 degrees. Did both CPU and GPU stress tests at the same time - CPU temp didnt go above 50 and GPU didnt go past 60-65... I have no idea where to look for. Does anyone encountered that before or know any tests that I can do to figure out why is it happening?

I had a similar thing happen with Black Ops when that 1st came out. solved it by lowering the core and memory clock speeds on my gfx card a little using the MSI overdrive tool for the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC.

Cant say for certain if it will work but it solved my issue.

I didnt even overclock my GPU yet, it is as it was overclocked by gigabyte.

and to what values should I do it (it is Gigabyte HD 7850 by the way). Atm I am at Core: 975MHz and Mem: 1200Mhz. And should I do something else apart from lowering the values in the MSI Afterburner?

I dropped 50hz off each and card is perfectly stable and still using those values for everything, Went from 850 core & 1300 mem to the following.

np. I would imagine its the game itself as everything else was fine apart from black ops but since lowering the values on the card i have not found anything yet that taxes the card enough to put it back to its original state :)

Does MW3 & Black ops share the same engine? if so i would say thats the culprit.

yep, all of them seems to be running on IW engine. Anyhow, will underclock my GPU and will give it a go...

But I dont undestand, my GPU usage is not even that high during the game, definatly not enough to make it unstable and crash...

2 hours into the game and still no sign of crash (usually happened within first hour, hour and a half), It seems that it did indeed help, but I dont understand why though...

P.S. DisrupTor75, thanks again for the help.
