When i am playing CoD WaW online i seem to get strange FPS in certain aspects. If i am hit by Tabun Gas my fps go down from 150 to 30. If i am in the thick of a Artillery my fps will also drop down to 30fps. Smoke causes slow downs aswell. I am sure smoke and airstrikes do not slow me down in Cod 4. My card is a 4870 x2. Anybody else experience this?

My fps go to 47 in cod4 when a lot is going on with everything maxed at 1920x1080 on hd 5870 I thought maybe it was to do with Windows 7 or drivers.

The smoke in the COD engine is very demanding. The first part of MW2 going through the city with the smoke everywhere drops my fps from 100 or so to 40.

i remember on one level in COD4 (where you're defending a tank) my two 4870 512mb's used to slow down with all the explosions going on around me.

maybe the card is just struggling? wouldn't have thought so though

I have lowered the res to 280x1024 and tabun gassed my self and drops to 50s. It has to be drivers. Cod still has not had a proper fix for ati cards with load times. i was using a 9600gt because i just got my card back from RMA its new and it never slowed down with the 9600gt. only low res though with no eyecandy. This is ridiculous that a 4870x2 cannot handle this. Very disapointed. I also tried OC to 800 core mem 1020. and its the same. Surely that means its driver related or cod waw just dont run well on ATI cards.

Have you read about how crossfire works on Call of Duty - WaW. Maybe the game works better with a Single GPU rather than 2 GPU's.

The FPS drops are common when explosions and gas are around because obviously more is happening on your screen putting pressure on. But i agree, going down to 30FPS with your setup with a bit of gas on your screen will be down to drivers etc...

Really annoyed to be honest. Smoke and gas really hit the gpu. I have been playing cod waw all year and i cannot remember if i had the same issues with vista i dont think i did. i am on windows 7 now.

Just turn Catalyst AI off which i assume is crossfire and i left Dual video card option on because when i turned it off I was only getting 70 odd fps maxed out. Turning Catalyst AI off has sorted the fps issues out. I dont get this though. The game has the dual gpu option and yet it dont work well in dual cards? or is cod just not working well with crossfire? However turning it off for single players leaves me with only 50 fps. So multi does not like catalyst AI were as single player struggles without it. Fps can dip into 50s with Crossfire off when i am in a room on my own, god knows what it will be like in a room with 40 odd people. This is poor that a lot games dont run properly on crossfire, ati need to get the act together with the turd drivers.

Is your CPU OCed at all? Mine at stock bottlenecks the 4870x2 in certain situations on WaW.
Dense smoke causes my FPS to drop to aorund 30-45 FPS with both GPU's at 100%.
