COD World At War installation problems.

I have installed COD WaW on my PC, installation went as normal and I had updated my nvidia drivers before the installation. When I try to run the game it starts with the initial intro screen, then it turns black as if the game is about to run but then returns to desktop.
Has anyone else had this problem or know what might be stopping the game from running.
My system is DFI RDX200, A643200, 1GB Geil Golden Dragon PC3200, Asus 8800GT, Maxtor 40GB HD. Running XP Home SP2.
This is the first time I have had a problem running any game on the system so I was wondering if it may be a problem with the game DVD.

Unforunately WAW seems to work for some and not for others, the game seems to have been released with many bugs and my advice is to sit back be patient and wait for the patches
