COD2 EAX3 Won't stay set???

Hope this is the right place to post?

Got Vista RC1 installed (no issues) I have an XFi Xtreme card and want to set 'sound provider' within COD2 'sound' to 'Creative EAX3'.............

I set it and then apply, game restarts and when I go back it's reset itself to 2D???

I have add/remove Creative drivers and still the same, looked at sound settings within control panel and they look fine?

Device manger see's everything? I have Goole'd but found no help, Anyone else seen this or know a fix :confused:

So no-one with Vista and this card playing COD2??

DOH!!! Maybe RC2 will correct it..

i think its an issue with the x-fi drivers for vista

EDIT: Are you running it in game mode (the xfi card)

that would be because micrsoft in their infinite wisdom have ditched directsound which means eax no longer works. there will be no driver updates/workarounds as far as i can tell.

apparently the future is openal......

Yes I am mate, and I tried it with RC2 and thats the same, I also saw the posts about openal but no info on when this will actually take affect :confused:

so tempted to go back to XP pro until these bits are sorted out

i agree stick with XP Pro.i couldnt even install vista rc2 on this comp it got to the "install" bit and it never ever moved

xp installed fine. danm bill gates to hell.
