COD2 on a X1900XTX @1280 res, what to expect?

Hello,

COD2 runs "ok" on my system with XT850XT/FX55/16 Cache HD/2Gig Ram, but with all details on - or most anyway, it struggles - hitting sub 20 FPS regularly (On DX9 settings of course)

How would an X1900-XTX handle this game in the res I use? (1280x1024), and with most settings on high (*Extra* settings in the “texture” settings, for example – amongst others).

Yes, I could Run it with DX7 with WELL over a 100 FPS, but IQ combined with good frame rate is my aim. 45-50 FPS seems to ok in this game, but fluctuates too much – but that as a “constant” would do me fine.

“My view” on frame rate and “playability” (applies to any game really)

Sub 20 (fps) = unplayable,
20-30 = playable…just

30-40 = ok, if it doesn’t drop below 30 (often)
40-50= good, and now approaching that “play the game now, so and shut up”……
50-60 = very good, you would need to be a big enthusiast to moan – but some would!

Above 60-70 Frames is totally ideal I guess…

What about this game “COD2? – Why is it such a GFX Hog? – F.E.A.R/Far cry look far superior (IMO) and I get better frame rates too. Seem like COD2 was badly coded. If I buy this card - don't want to spend too much time with my mouse lingering over DX7 setting

PS: would like to hear other people’s performance in this game with the X1900XTX card! :D

TIA

Anthony

what will you do once you complened the game? play public? you will get ownd bcoz everyone uses dx7 online me included, so i wouldnt bother just for the one game to complete

When playing the game prss esc and go to ingame video setting and enable SLI..Even with a single ATI card there big FPS increases ...Got to be done extra time you start the game..

I use DX9 on my card online and nobody owns me :D Like to see ya try!

The X1900 runs great @ 1280x1024 and everything maxed out.

Enjoy.

My X1800XT 512 runs the game fine at 1280x1024 with 4XAA and 8XAF with every setting in game except for the smoke smoothing maxed out.

Never noticed an unplayable frame rate. Even with my card only clocked at 600/1400 (stock is 625/1500 but it doesn't increase when I play a game)

Is this true? Must give it a go and see :)

this game is weird... my bros 9600xt plays it @ 1024x768 on medium settings (dx9) with no lag
my old 6800 used to lag loads at that same res but on high settings.
and my 7800gt runs it at 1280x1024 everything maxed out, and i still think its not fast enough. completed it twice now though :D

Repair the wire level:

First screen taken with "No SLI" enabled...... 35 frames, and very cold!

Second Screenshot taken AFTER enabling SLI: 43 frames, and an increase of about 20%, and that's quite considerable!

thanks chaparral, or should I say thanks NVIDIA? - "The way it was meant to be Changed" :D

Nice,I'll try this tonight :D

I think we can take from this that COD2 is pretty badly coded then. I've found a few bugs, pity that there are no patches forthcoming (or new maps for that matter).
