CoD2 - worth the buy?

I used to play CoD 1 ages ago and thoroughly enjoyed it and was also in a clan , i have played CoD 2 but only the demo , is it worth getting via steam (think its about 18quid + VAT is the multilayer still active? or if there is a better alternative to CoD (series?) i already have DoD but have never gotten in to it.
 
It can be found for a lot cheaper retail, but if you cba then yes i would still say go for it. It has a awsome single player campaign and the multiplayer is great too (not as good as COD1 but still good).
 
Okay :) any idea how much cheaper it can be found at? i'm not really in any hurry to play it , but steam is convenient ..lol
 
GOTY edition is available for £9.99 delivered from a reputable online game etailer. Well worth buying as the GAMEPLAY in this game is fantastic.
 
COD2 multiplayer is disgusting - COD1 was much much better
But yes the single player was really good; though I'm sure you can find a better price somewhere other than steam.
 
Yes 9.99 as stated by HangTime :D - Downloading a CoD2 Single player demo,

Whats so different about the multiplayer? compared to COD1?
 
Why have you all gone over to CoD2 and left the CoD vanilla (and UO) servers empty?

You see the slower gameplay, worse weapon audio, stupid Quake-style spinning weapons and the awaiting connection 415151515 messages but somehow the fancy new graphics seem to keep you entertained:(

Meh, maybe i'm stuck in the past. I miss the old CoD days.

It is silly really as gameplay is way more important when it comes to online play yet these days the multiplayer experience seem to be getting worse in exchange for better graphics ...sigh

Tim did I hear you right? Did you say the multiplayer is slower paced? If anything it's more fast paced than the original and actually too fast paced. You see, the weapons do more damage (or we have less life), and there are stupid markers such as grenade indicators and an X comes up when you hit someone - what's more is that the weapons are really accurate. This means that not a lot of skill is needed to kill someone and it's very hard to evade dieing; unlike in COD1 where if you're skilled enough you can strafe and have a chance of outgunning the opponent.

But.. anyway that doesn't matter - it's just my rant since I'm annoyed at how it's one of the most popular online games. The singleplayer is still really cool.

I hate the grenade sign, also the little x when hitting some one. Also the 5 second full health rule sucks, just have health boxes like in cod 1. Theres barely any recoil compared to cod1. Some of the guns are way unbalanced. Also some maps werent propley designed with nading as soon as your sprawned.
 
i love the single player campaign, online is fun, but aye, the health regen is a little tarded, no sense of danger really.

I've played the pre-release beta demo (it is buggy as hell) but really enjoyed what i played of it! cant wait for it to come to my door :D, After reading the posts here ill have a shot at Multiplayer but if its Meh ill just play CoD1 Multiplayer :)
