Hi.

I was at Omega Sektor last night playing CoD4 over the LAN with a load of mates. Was a great laugh.
So much so that i want to get it for my PC.

My main monitors are both 1920x1200 jobbos, so i'll be needed a video card capable of that, but i havnt read up on video cards for years so ive no idea whats what now.

Rest of spec that matters for games is a Q6600 & 4Gb ram.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance all. :).

Got a budget?
Nope. :p.
Whatever it takes. :). :p.

The 4870 looks a steal at that price. Why is it so cheap?
What the equilivent nVidia card?

Forgot, ive got a Corsair HX620W PSU. If that makes a difference to the card choice.
And its gotta be quiet.

"Why is it so cheap?"

It's not cheap, it's £180 quid odd. People have been getting mugged off by nVidia for a few years so think its normal to pay £400-£500 for fantastic tech!

Luckily this has changed now thanks to ATI! :)
I think it was taken out of context.

Compared to the equilivent nVidia card, depending where you look, its upto £100 cheaper.
Just seems odd.

Looks like the 4870 is the one to go for then.

512Mb or 1Gb...?

512MB :) The GDDR5 handles that res really easily. Only if you game at higher than 1920 might the odd situation arise where 512mb isn't enough (I have only seen that in 1 test, in 1 game with absolute maximum settings at 2500 res).

Apart from the amount, the 1Gb is the same as the 512Mb isnt it?
If so, theres only £30 in it...
