Cod4 and 1920x1080

4890 :D

Or you could xfire with another 4850, would be the cheaper option if you have the mobo for it... dunno how well cod4 scales though.

ideally yes, but I dont know how well the original phenoms run with cod4.

If you can run at lower resolutions (like 1680x1050) with a better framerate, then you'll see a decent benefit with the 4890. If not, then I would be wary of cpu bottlenecking..

4850 1GB will thrash CoD4, especially if you clock it a little.

the weak point in your system is the Phenom. Upgrade to Phenom 2 and clock it to 3.5+ghz and your machine will game very well at that res for some time to come.

I have a 4850 512mb and it runs cod 4 on near enough full at 1080 with no issues. that's with 4gb and a Q6600. probably is cpu limited
.

Combination of CPU and GPU aren't ideal for that res if your using max settings and some AA... get a second 4850 in cf tho and the game will fly, tho a better CPU or some overclocking would improve things as well - if your running at stock 2.6gig? its really holding you back - need around 3.2-3.4gig on it to really shift.

Phenom platform is actually faster in CoD4 than the Core2 its a well documented quirky fact!

CPU is borderline - with a bit of OCing it would be more than fine... GPU is good for upto 1680x above that in COD4 you are going to see times when it drops below 60fps with max settings.

If your seeing generally poor performance, with massive fps plummets when you or another player moves - but fps spiking upwards when you stop moving - then its a known bug in COD4 and nothing you can do except change to another computer or drastically change the hardware config.

I found with cod 4 with my previous q6600 at 3.8 and an 8800gts 512, at 1920x1200 i could average 70fps with max details and 4xaa, i then switched to a gtx 280 and saw a bump of 10fps, when i changed to the q9550 (also at 3.8ghz) i got a slight increase of 1-3fps, i still get the occasional dip to 40-50fps particularly in smoky scenes.

Guys he has a 1GB 4850 which let me tell you, is more than enough to play at 1920x1200 with 4xAA and max details comfortably.

It's the CPU without a doubt.
