CoD4 fps drop

I'm running the computer in my sig and get a nice constant 125fps on CoD4, most of the time. About 5 seconds after I join agame my frame rate drops to around 5fps for a few seconds, then jumps back up.

was just wondering if this is a common problem with an easy fix, or am i just going to have to live with it?
