COD4 Graphics

I don't know, but I noticed a similar restriction (if it is a restriction!) on my mates pc.

I assume you cannot go higher without dual cards perhaps?

Bare in mind that COD4 is running of the heavily modified COD2 engine. Its pretty old and i think it does very well for its age.
 
I'm pretty sure on mine there's lots of "High" and even a few "Extreme" options somewhere.

I am in Vista, if that makes any difference over XP? Not that I'd expect it to, being a DX9 game...
 
i have extreme on all 3 texture settings if you turn them to manual but thats it, not on anything else.

just forced 16xAAq on it from the nvidia control panel :P see how this looks :D
 
I think COD4 looks pretty good. I wasn't expecting Valve-like facial animation of Crysis-like stuff but overall I think it looks very good.
 
I think it looks damn good.

Considering what is happening around you as well - it's easily one of the better looking games out there. Certainly much better looking than COD1/2.

normal is the highest setting for dynamic lights, world detail and water detail. no. of corpses can be set to insane, and on the texture settings screen if you set it to manual you can choose extra for all those options.

i run 2xAA, 8xQ AA in the control panel @ 1920x1200. it runs very well:)

was thinking about getting cod4, £20 sounds cheap to me, all i need to know is how good/fun is it online??? and what gametypes can i expect, just DM and maybe ctf cuz im fine with that but if theres anything new that would be a nice bonus to me :D
 
MP is fun though i would stick to maps with under 32 players as some of the maps are very small and it isn't fun playing when u spawn and get shot within 2 seconds, or find a server where grenades are disabled :P

yes but they are all limited so you only get a certain "arena". so they are probally 1/5th of the size, there is one map in particular that in MP (i can't remember what it is called but it is basicly a few bins and metal storage containers) that is so small on a 54 person server the average life must be 3 or 4 seconds.

some of the more "open" maps are a lot better. nowhere near crysis size though :) (i know people don't like that comparison, but hey that is what it is, if you can play it then you should be comparing them :) )

3 or 4 Seconds? You mean you actually managed to get away from the spawn point? :eek::D

I hate that map! :o:p
