COD4 - iw3mp.exe has stopped working

If you have a Realtek sound device, you need to plug in a microphone, or anything into the microphone socket. Weird, but works...

i had this error, it was a sound problem. try control panel / sound / right click and choose, show disabled devices, enable them and then try the game. For both playback and recording !

re-set to stereo

hmmm! for me I'd been fiddling about and had set my Realtek sound to 5.1. I got this failure thereafter until re-set it back to stereo.

i find Xfire can make the game have issues i disable ingame chat with xfire with both games (cod4 and MW2) as they never really fixed it,

also if running vista or win7 find iw3mp.exe and disable Desktop composition (as the game drops back to desktop for an second when it starts and enables Aero then disables it again) i had cod4 crash on me an number of times when its been doing that, Invaild ingame settings can make the game crash as well

Wow, i have had this problem since i installed modern warfare 2. i have just enabled stereo mix in recording devices and voila, it now works. Thanks guys
