COD4 - iw3mp.exe has stopped working

Hi all,

Tried this in the graphics thread and still no luck. Some backgroud:

Spec as below - COD4 was working fine with my P5K Premium but installed the rampage formula and i can't get MP to run without getting this error after about 2 seconds of MP.

I'm running cats 8.8 and have tried 8.9 with COD4. As said i have formatted, i have also tried just using headphones and also activate the diabled items in the sounds -> recording section. I have also uninstalled my asus sound drivers in order to let vista install it default ones - still no luck.

I'm using vista 64 and this error is seriously doing my head in!

Any help would be much appreciated.

What has changed? Chipset and audio card (if using onboard)?

Yep - using the onboard sound on the rampage instead of the P5k.

Could it be the audio drivers or settings that have changed and broke it?

Is it possible to download manufacturer drivers for it (if it is Realtec or whatever)?

Rename your "Miles" folder, and see if it runs.

If it does, then the music will be disabled, and you'll need to find a downloadable folder off the web if you want the music to work.

As sad as it sounds i have brought a new soundcard in order to try and fix this problem. Will let you know how it goes.

Hi mate

I know exactly why it won't work :-P

(I had the same problem)

For some reason you need to plug a microphone in, Once the game has loaded you can take it out.If you don't have a microphone use a sound cable in the mic socket.

Don't ask why...

I had exactly the same problem with mine! Gave up with it in the end but have since formatted so might give it another go..

Wow, that has to be the weirdest 'patch' i have ever heard of!! I have since brought an Asus Xonar so i hopefully will not need the microphone patch lol

Thanks for your help guys - there has obviously been allot of frustration over this issue and i'm quite surprised they haven't patched it yet.
