COD4 (non steam), how portable is it?

All my games I have now are portable, either because they're steam games, or they just work

(ie, i can plug my external hard drive into any pc and just play them)

Can you do this with COD4? I want to buy it, but it costs so much on steam

can you redirect the files using ini or a reg file? or does it have to be in 'documents'
