COD4 online levels

Basically I backed up my saved games and formatted (over a month a go).

Now when I reinstalled I realised that the save games didn't include my online progress, which was at around level 35. Is there any way to get this back?

I have heard of an edit, but is that legit?

Edit probably isn't legit and Im unsure if you can get them back :/

You can go into your registry and edit some stuff to get all the cammo and scopes etc, i did this once i hit 55, only down side is you lose all achievements and time etc.
I an several others have played like this with no problem what so ever.

It gets boring when you get to level 55, I say start again owning the 55 ranks with your mp5!
