CoD4 Patch won't Install!!!

I have just bought this game...came home and installed it on a completely fresh install of XP 32.

Tried to install 1.5 patch...but get a popup saying it can't locate a valid installation of CoD. WTF!

I don't know what to do. I have already reinstalled it twice. The second time I used regedit to find all activision registries and deleted them all....but still no go!

wtf!

It tells me to go to multiplayer options and reenter my key...which I've done countless times.

i had this. Use the in game update thingy to give you a different link. The one you've downloaded will be about 30 meg I bet. The one you need 1.4 to 1.5 is only about 10 or so. Think it might be the american version or something that you downloaded at first.

You've installed patch 1.4 already? You need to install it before installing 1.5.
