I've been not really using my consoles of late.. A new upgraded PC has seen me defect.. But tonight I played COD4 on my ps3 and i dunno but I think the console version is superior.. It just feels more polished and even though there's not as many players in an online game, this just adds a bit of stealth to the game.

Never thought I'd ever say I prefer a console FPS over a PC FPS... But COD4 really is the bomb ! Definately best game of this generation. PC version feels a little jittery in comparision.

What the hell?

It feels exactly the same, I have it on 360 and PC and have played both extensively.

PC version, let's see...

- Better servers
- Far more colourful and vibrant, no this is not a problem with my TV or Monitor settings
- Sharper visuals
- No aim assist (good thing for keyboard)

About the only differences, maybe it feels jittery because of the 4800 series stuttering problem? Not sure if that affects the 4850 though...

and even though there's not as many players in an online game, this just adds a bit of stealth to the game.

You are not forced to play in 48 player servers on PC, there's loads of 32/24/16 and below servers too.

If a game is released on both PC and console, I nearly always go for the console version. Generally I will have whatever MMO I currently play running on the PC, then sit and play a console. PC is probably better if you're into the whole clanning and tournament thing though.

PC version is a bit buggy ie: some objects disappear if you move a certain distance away from them (the fallen down vending machine on Vacant for example)

no problems on xbox or PS3 tho

i prefer using a mouse + kb though, plus the PC has good mods for competitive matches (eg Promod)

One thing annoys me about the console version is search and destroy mode. 3 rounds and you're kicked back to the lobby to start another round. Can't it be set so that the limit is increased to say 10 rounds per map?

I was playing Vacant last night and don't remember that, not had any bugs with moving a distance away from something either to be honest.

ps3 on under 720p on a 1080p screen = blurrrrrrrrrry, just like gta4 was.
pc at 1080p, sharp and runs smoother (on my rig anyway).
Also less children playing the pc one maybe?? (Assuming a sub 16year old is more likely to have a 360/ps3 than a gaming pc).

pfft who plays 1080p on a pc :p

I cant directly compare cod4 but with other games the console generally just feels like nobody has an unfair advantage, i mean like a better mouse or some uber keyboard - saying that i do really enjoy tf2 on the pc. But i hated it on the 360.. Dont know. Some are made to be played on a console and some are not. For me Cod4 is for my console (because my pc will never run it lulz)

Posting in a console section = More console votes
Posting in PC section = More PC votes

Personal preference.

I have both Ps3 and Computer. I like being able to chat on the computer. And also a mouse = 100x better then analogue sticks.

That's just me though.

Oh plus mods etc on pc, eg zombie, sniper, pam4

Playing with a HDTV vs someone who doesn't is an advantage.

Also having a better mouse isn't really a valid argument, if you are serious about your PC gaming you will probably have bought a half decent mouse, hardly a serious advantage.

As for keyboards, a keyboard is essentially a keyboard, lol.

i have it on ps3,360 and pc and it wins hands down on pc, looks better, has better controls more servers, mods, you can lean!, no yappy kids on poor quality mics (mostly yanks) doesnt take as long to load maps

Well what is it then? The game has been programmed to be less colourful and vibrant on consoles? Why would they do that?

As for the console version being better because nobody has an advantage, that is utter bullcrap.

- HDTV vs SDTV for a start.
- HDTV's have different response times also. Especially some of the cheap/older HDTV's which have terrible response times.
- Quality/speed of connection still applies

360/PS3
For :
46" HDTV
5.1 Surround Sound
Very atmospheric
Everyone (hopefully) will have the same setup, no config tweaks etc etc...

Against:
I can't get on with the PS3 controller and FPS'ers!
360 controller is better (for me anyway) but still not as good as PC Mouse & Keyboard.
Xbox Live Gold membership cost, don't they get enough cash out of us already?

PC
For:
Controls Mouse & Keyboard
125fps
Better Graphics

Against:
Config whores
Crusty PC vs State of the art

PC version wins it for me, 360 version a close second.

Having played both, I have to say I can't see any difference between the two aside from the greater number of players on pc and the obvious difference in controls.

It really is a top quality game whichever system you play it on.

many hackers on console versions? macroing & config tweakers? (including connection tweaks)

more level playing field on console i would have thought.
