COD4 playing really rubbish

Not sure where to post this but here goes:

Ok I have a Macbook Pro and have installed windows XP on it and am trying to play COD4 and its playing terrible. I have put all the graphics to low and my FPS is 40 and its jerking around like no bodies business. I assume I am lagging but then I can play Teamfortress 2 with no problems and not lag/jerking. So is this to do with my connection as its via wifi and i am downstairs and the router is upstairs?

Its really annoying as its basically unplayable.

40 fps is playable, however, on a 64 player server it's going to drop in heavy gunfight situations!

Why don't you eliminate the range probability by going downstairs?

As EVH has said - wireless won't help here.

What speed does your wifi connection run at ?

Must have been in dumb mode not to think of trying it upstairs lol. And that is the problem, the strength of the wifi is too low downstairs. And I can not move my pc upstairs to where the router is as there is no room. Will just have to put up with it.

If you are feeling flush, there is a solution.

Buy a pair of homeplugs - networking modules that plug into your mains and run across the electricity circuit. You'll get about 65mbps from the 85mb ones. Cost about £70ish.
